🏆The First Annual iChineseReader “zhōng wén yǒu bàn fǎ” Mini Video Contest📹
Education has always been circumscribed by and thus must constantly readjust itself to accommodate the changing demands of the “era”.In our current era of information explosion, the rapid development and implementation of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, etc., not only has drastically changed our daily life, but also calls for corresponding changes in education. In fact, not only has the rapid advancement of science & technology effected explicit changes in current physical teaching and learning environment of “cloud + terminal + classroom instruction”, but also in the realm of fundamental philosophies and concepts of education. In the field of world language education, such changes are reflected in the repeated introduction and experiments of various innovative pedagogies such as thematic, inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, STEMM, and immersion approaches. We are witnessing the once sacred unshakable teacher-centered instructional paradigm gradually giving way to student-centered learning paradigm. In today’s learning environment of “cloud + terminal + classroom instruction”, teacher is no longer the “single-log” bridge for students to obtain knowledge. Rather, they can access information and knowledge anytime and anywhere. Thus today’s education should align with these changed norms and focus on enhancing learner’s active, participatory learning ability and empower them to take control of their own educational pathway.

In anticipation of the incoming changes, we started to develop iChineseReader, the first comprehensive online leveled reading platform, to prepare students for the new learning paradigm. Encouraged by our successful endeavor in iChineseReader, we are now launching this Chinese mini video contest, “zhōng wén yǒu bàn fǎ” to provide Chinese learners and teachers with a platform attest excellent results under the learning paradigm.

Mini Video: A Better Media for Learning from One Another and Sharing
Breaking away from the traditional on-site format and choosing a mini video as our media, we intend to explore new and more opportunities and possibilities for participants’ learning and sharing. Learning from each other and sharing are both our original and ultimate intention. We hope that this mini video contest is not just a contest for Chinese language mastery, but also a platform for participants to demonstrate their learning capabilities and creativity.
